Girls Camping Weekend 2007

Filed under: Friends and Family — Tara @ 9:44 pm

Trifecta Unite!

I see it’s been almost a month since I’ve posted anything. What can I say? I’ve been busy. I’ll give some updates on other things this week.

For now though, I present to you pictures from the 7th Annual Trifecta Camping Weekend up the Dells. While this year had a few new twists compared to previous years, we still had an excellent and relaxing time.

Some musings from the weekend…

  • This is the first year that we’ve had a slight twist in personnel. While it’s usually just Erica, Jenny and I, this year included unborn Baby Hawes. Jen, you took it in stride and showed us just how hard it is to chug water like a champ.
  • This was also the first year in a long time that we’ve had to deal with rain. We had a slight shower Saturday morning, which was doable, but the worst part was Saturday night. While we weren’t at the campsite, when we finally did come home at 1am or whenever it was, everything was SOAKED, including things inside of the tent. Erica ended up sleeping in the car because her sleeping area was drenched. We thought Jens and mine was ok, but when Jenny woke up in the morning, she was also soaked. Boooo to rain!
  • Year 7 of camping also meant a new campsite. Our former favorite site to go to in the Dells was quite boring last year (we were one of probably ten people at the entire site), so I got a recommendation from a friend of mine from high school and we headed out to Sherwood Forest. It was a pretty good upgrade–big site, fairly wooded, nice staff, and walking distance to town. All signs are leaning to a return visit in 2008.
  • Errr… sorry about that thing that happened in the car, Beav. :)
  • Alright, that’s enough for now. Enjoy the rest of the pictures by going here. Looking forward to Camping with some lesbians in 2008!

    Mother’s Day Card…

Filed under: Friends and Family — Tara @ 8:57 am

So, my mom send this email to me today–and once in a while, I’m a sucker for a “Hallmark poem,” especially when I can relate to it. The jist of it is that it’s a letter from a son or daughter that has passed away too soon and they want to still wish their mom a happy mothers day, but they can’t find a card for it.

It’s been 12 years since my brother passed away, and I’m sure he’s thinking the same thing up in heaven. Happy early Mother’s Day to all moms, but especially to those that have lost a child too soon.

    Dear Mr. Hallmark,
I am writing to you from heaven, and though it must appear
A rather strange idea, I see everything from here.
I just popped in to visit, your stores to find a card
A card of love for my mother, as this day for her is hard.
There must be some mistake I thought, every card you could imagine
Except I could not find a card, from a child who lives in heaven.
She is still a mother too, no matter where I reside
I had to leave, she understands, but oh the tears she’s cried.
I thought that if I wrote you, that you would come to know
That though I live in heaven now, I still love my mother so.
She talks with me, and dreams with me; we still share laughter too,
Memories our way of speaking now, would you see what you could do?
My mother carries me in her heart, her tears she hides from sight.
She writes poems to honor me, sometimes far into the night
She plants flowers in my garden, there my living memory dwells
She writes to other grieving parents, trying to ease their pain as
    well.
So you see Mr. Hallmark, though I no longer live on earth
I must find a way, to remind her of her wondrous worth
She needs to be honored, and remembered too
Just as the children of earth will do.
Thank you Mr. Hallmark, I know you’ll do your best
I have done all I can do; to you I’ll leave the rest.
Find a way to tell her, how much she means to me
Until I can do it for myself, when she joins me in eternity.
Peace and Love be with you.

    Hard Work Pays Off

Filed under: Friends and Family — Tara @ 9:14 am

All of my hard work in the city of New London, WI has finally paid off. They named a park after me:

    Pfeifer Park

Now, I am just as surprised as you are. Especially after I found out they pre-dated it back to 1959. PFEIFER PARK! Who knew I was going to be such a hit??

    Mandy’s Baby Shower

Filed under: Friends and Family — Tara @ 6:19 am

As you saw in August, my friend, Mandy, had her baby, Ethan. While Amber has some pictures on her camera that I have yet to see, I do have pictures from the shower that we threw for her a few weeks before she had the baby.

Bonnie, here, wasn’t a fan, obviously. AHHH!

But, nonetheless, everyone had a good time.

    Jenny’s Bachelorette Party

Filed under: Friends and Family — Tara @ 1:49 pm

One good way for me to get some posts in is to tell everyone about all of the pictures that I waited all summer to upload. Today, I’ll feature my friend, Jenny’s bachelorette party.

The challenge that we had while planning Jenny’s party is that we had to outdo the “fake” bachelorette party that we threw for Jenny a few years ago. Basically, we got her all dressed up like it was her REAL bachelorette party and went out on the town. It’s true–we were posers. Anyway, Jenny always talked about how much fun that was, so we tried to beat it. So, we went with the same concept (Booby-ring toss) and added some cowboy hats. I think she had a good time…

This past weekend, I spent quite a bit of time dealing with this whole wedding thing for Jenny and Brian. Even though it was a cooler day than in past years, Jen, Erica, Bonnie, Amber and I still braved the weather and headed out to the Jimmy Buffett Concert a few weeks ago. After a one year absence, we definately weren’t going to miss Buffett again.

So, enjoy the pictures (and thanks, Amber, for manning the camera this year). The rest of them can be viewed by clicking here.

    That Little Pooper

    Steve the pooper

Sure, he looks cute with the white hair and the blue eyes… but this little dude pooped on Neill’s bed this morning and peed on mine. He’s not so cute after something like that.

Bonnie is Psycho… I mean, Psychic!

Filed under: Friends and Family — Tara @ 10:00 am

So, last night, Bonnie and I were discussing American Idol. I stopped watching the show after the horrible singers left–I mean, really, who wants to see GOOD singers? Regardless, Bon was making predictions of who she thought was going to get voted off (and I don’t think it was the Rocker, was it Bon?). Anyway, she brought to my attention that way back when, when I first posted about this season’s American Idol, she made the prediction that Katherine McPhee would make the Top 12… if not the Top 2. I called Bon out on making a bold prediction, but look at her now–Ms. McPhee is in the Top 3!

Anyone else think Bonnie has found her new calling?

    Opening Day 2006

I finally went down to the main computer (ever since I got my laptop with wireless internet, I don’t go down to the big computer much anymore) to upload (and censor) my pictures from opening day last week. Sure, it was cold. And windy. And semi-wet. But the Brewers won and everyone had a good time, so that’s all that matters, right?

Click here to view the rest of my pictures.

And Neill has his posted too–check out his post here.

    Pfeifer’s Net Three Deers!

Filed under: Friends and Family — Tara @ 8:58 am

Be proud of the Ohio Pfeifers!

    Deer Gallore!

On opening day of gun season, Nov. 28 the Pfeifer’s of Oberlin, OH were hunting on family land in Huron county in Ohio. Thomas harvested an early morning 8pt buck. Followed 1 1/2 hours later by son Eric with a 6pt buck. After school 8 year old Grandson Nicholas took a 6 pt. buck (Nicholas’s first deer). Followed by cousin Tara, with a buck fiddy she found on the ground outside her car.
