Jonny Hammer’s Improves to 7-1

Filed under: Wisconsin Sports — Tara @ 8:09 am

The team is doing great. We’re off to our best start ever and the team is really working well together.

Me, on the other hand… I’m not doing so well. I came into last night’s game with the mindset that I need to work on getting my batting average over .500. I mean, this is slow-pitch softball and I am an ok hitter… why am I batting .471? Well, I didn’t do much to help my cause last night. 0-3. And it’s not that I’m striking out a lot. I’m hitting the ball really well, I’m just hitting it DIRECTLY to where their fielders are. Either they’re scouting me (doubt that), or I have incredibly bad luck. I think I’m turning into Bill Hall–didn’t this happen to him?

I’m a team player though, so, uh, yea us! Thanks for everyone that came out to watch us last night. Meaning Tulsa. The rest of you that are reading this and didn’t go to the game, you suck.

On to Coach Z’s comments and the season stats. On July 11th, we’re playing the team we’re tied with for first place, so it really would be nice to have some fans. I promise a good game.

We continued our winning ways tonight by soundly beating Packy’s, 11-4. From the opening inning we grabbed the lead and never let it go. The defense was solid for the most part and we got hits when it mattered. We are now 7-1 and, worst case, tied with Aurora for first place. Remember we have no game next week and then the week after (July 11) we play none other than Aurora at 9:15 again.

Season Stats, leader in each category is bolded. Since I didn’t post the stats last week, the game ball goes to TRIPP for taking 3 walks over the past 2 games. Something is definately off.

Jonny Hammer’s Gets Back on Track With 14-13 Win

Filed under: General — Tara @ 12:56 pm

Last night, it looked like it was going to be a repeat from last week… have the lead going into the last inning, blow the lead, lose the game. Luckily for us, this week, we had the last at-bat, so Jonny Hammer’s pulled out the win on a solid RBI walk by Dan Bengs. This brings the team to 5-1 and in 2nd place behind Auroras (who we have yet to play).

On to Coach Z’s comments and the season stats. It wasn’t a pretty win, but we’ll take them as we can get them…

It was a hard fought battle against the hated Guerrillas, and in the end we prevailed, 14-13. Both offenses were clicking pretty good and it came down to whoever had the last at bat, which luckily was us. We are now 5-1 and have a firm grasp on 2nd place behind Aurora. Next week’s game is at 7:15 against Demarinis Slicers.

Season Stats, leader in each category is bolded; we’re 6 games in… it’s time to see who is making a run at the batting title, even though it’s pretty obvious. Oh, and congrats to Lou for getting her first hit(s) of the season last night!

Johnny Hammer’s Suffers First Loss of Season

Filed under: Wisconsin Sports — Tara @ 12:37 pm

I always say, if you’re going to lose, lose by a lot. For me, the hurt of the loss always is less if it wasn’t a close game. Last week, that wasn’t the case. We suffered our first loss of the season. In the last inning. And it sucked. We sucked. Hopefully we can pick ourselves up this week. We’ve got a 8:15pm game at Sijan Field. I’ll buy a beer for anyone that shows up. Which is easy to say, because I know none of you will. Jerks. I’m not bitter. :)

On to Coach Z’s comments and the season stats. Good thing I don’t post individual game stats, because there wasn’t much to share this week.

Well it was bound to happen sooner or later…our undefeated season came to an end last night as Jersey’s edged us 8-7. It seemed to be one of those nights that every time we hit one hard, they were positioned perfectly to make the catch. A few breaks also went their way (like TRIPP’s almost HR), and that’s just the way it went! Next week we can rebound by beating our arch nemesis Guerrillas.

This Paris Hilton Stuff is Crap

Filed under: Rantings and Ravings — Tara @ 12:50 pm

For a minute, when Paris Hilton checked herself into jail, I had a TINY bit of respect for her. After all, she said something along the lines of “people have this image of me and I want to show people that I’ll do the time for the crime.” I thought she was actually going to step up to the plate, albeit in a “special section” of the jail with extra priviledges.

So today, we find out that she was released from jail after 4 days and will spend the rest of her sentence on house arrest for 40 days. What? While I’m sure all of the details haven’t been released, officially they are saying it was partially to do with a medical consideration. Pretty vague to me. Then, tmz.com says they have a source that says “Hilton was refusing to eat much of the jail food served her.”

Who cares! If this were not a celebrity, I’m guessing the response to an inmate not eating food would be, “Tough. Don’t eat then.” The inmate would have to decide what was more important: eating, but eating crappy food, or not eating and risking the chance of getting sick. Right when I think the judicial system has some things figured out and they put a celebrity in jail who DESERVES to be in jail, they go and do something like this. Why does she get special treatment?

Does this bother anyone else? Or am I jumping to conclusions before we have all of the information?

Crazy Week…

Filed under: Around Milwaukee — Tara @ 9:18 am

So, it’s been a crazy week so far… Erica and John finally coming home from their road trip, the jerk Cubs fans being in town and bringing out the worst in Brewers fans, Johnny Hammer’s first loss in softball (an article will be forthcoming) and now the weather is going to give us some nasty stuff tonight. Tim found a short blurb in jsonline’s daywatch today that really sums it up the best…

It’s Thursday folks and we just can’t get a break this week.

Right when it’s finally safe to leave the house without running into some jerk in a Mark Prior jersey, Mother Nature decides to go all Daisuke Matsuzaka and throw us a climatological gyro-ball.

Nice… button down the hatches everyone, it’s about to get nasty…
