I’m Proud of Milwaukee

Filed under: Wisconsin Sports — Tara @ 10:32 am

UPDATE: According to stats, the Brewers sold another 17,090 tickets to Thursday’s game, bringing the three-game series total to 52,496. Pretty darn good series for a team that isn’t even from Milwaukee.

So, as most people in Milwaukee know, Miller Park is hosting the Indians-Angels series the next few days. Now, I know we’ve got great baseball fans in Milwaukee. We haven’t had a winning team in who knows how many years, yet our fans still come out to the park and support our Brewers. Those are great fans. But this was a real test–would fans come out to see two teams from the American League play baseball at Miller Park?

You bet they will.

A few things I love about this.

  • Miller Park staff and employees didn’t hesitate to do this for the Indians. We all can relate to snow ruining our fun (like looking outside now and seeing it blizzarding), so of course we can relate to Cleveland being snowed out of an entire series. So, administration at the park didn’t even talk costs–they just said we’ll do it and figure out the details later. That’s awesome. People came in on their days off to work and make it the best experience possible for anyone who decided to show up. Which leads me to my next thing…
  • Baseball fans showed up to watch the game last night. Lots of fans. Over 19,000 to be exact. For a game between two teams in the American League that most people probably only knew a handful of players on the teams. It was baseball though. And we like baseball. Regardless of who is playing. So much so that we filled the stadium with more fans that we might have had for a Brewers home game.

In comparison, I turned on the Brewers game last night at 10:00pm. Granted, they were on probably their 5th rain delay and the game was already 4 hours old, but there was NO ONE there. I don’t know how many people started there, but by the end of the game, you could hear every word that the 12 fans were saying. I couldn’t stop laughing at people yelling GEEEE-OFFFFFFFF when Jenkins was up at the bag. Anyway, glad to see that Miller Park is getting more fans :)

  • What are your thoughts? Are you going to go to any of the remaining 2 games they are going to play here?

    1. Thanks for helping out the Indians. Our big league city (Cleveland) could not in all it`s wisdom see the importance of a dome.
You are lucky ,Miller Park is awesome. Did you see slider (our mascot) take to the slide? See you at the World Series!!
