Need an idea for Erica’s birthday?

Filed under: Plain Ol' Funny Stuff — Tara @ 10:08 am

I received an email today from Erica.

This is Erica, in case you don’t know her. Yeah, she still wears her hair like that.
E

Anyway, she wanted to make sure everyone knew what she wanted for her birthday when it comes up next April. So, check it out and put in your orders now… I’m sure these are going to be hot sellers.

Blowup Man

LONDON (Reuters) - He fits in a car’s glove box, appears at a flick of a switch and when a woman has finished using him, she can just pull the plug and he deflates.

He’s the “Buddy on Demand,” a blow-up man launched on Tuesday with the aim of making solo female motorists feel less nervous about driving at night.

According to research by the inflatable friend’s creator, insurer Sheilas’ Wheels, 82 percent of women feel safer with someone sitting in the car beside them and nearly a half don’t like driving alone in the dark.

“We’re not saying that an inflatable man is the only answer but we do hope it will give women extra confidence and make journeys in the dark less fearful,” said Jacky Brown, the spokeswoman for Sheilas’ Wheels.

Ok, really. Who is going to drive by this and honestly think that is a real person in the car? I’d drive by, laugh, and wonder why this woman has a blowup doll in her front seat and figure she lost a bet or something. Give me a break….

Old Drivers–are they really THAT bad?

Filed under: Rantings and Ravings, General — Tara @ 9:05 pm

More times than not, I get frusterated with older drivers. You know who I’m talking about. The grandpa that is driving next to you and slowly starts drifting into your lane… the grandma in her huge cadillac where she can barely see over the wheel, and she’s going about 10 mph in a 45 mph zone and you can’t pass her. That old person. The one where you usually say “They should NOT be on the road.”

And I’d be all for anyone over the age of 60 having to be retested for driving. I’m not saying we need to stick them in a car and make them doing parallel parking tests, but I don’t see anything wrong with a vision and hearing test. Maybe even some sort of simulated reflex test. I have no issues with my driving–it’s everyone else that I’m worried about.

With all of that said, yesterday I saw an older gentlemen driving down the street. He was probably going the speedlimit and was driving ok in his Caddy. Nothing that stood out to me… until some 20-something ahole driving a huge, rusty pickup truck almost ran grandpa off the road. He was swerving in and out of traffic on a 25 mph road that had 2 lanes of traffic. Come on… cutting in front of anyone, regardless of their age, and scaring them is kind of a moron move. Poor grandpa probably almost soiled himself while trying to keep control of his car and not run it into the front yard of a house on the road.

I don’t know… it just made me want to giive odler drivers a second chance–because maybe it’s not always them that are responsible for the image of older drivers being bad drivers.

Are You Missing Your Mail From Germany?

Postal worker caught with thousands of letters

BERLIN (Reuters) - A Berlin postal worker who was caught with more than several thousand undelivered letters in his basement has admitted he was overwhelmed by the job but insisted he planned to deliver them soon.

Police recently found 90 boxes of post stacked in his basement. The postal worker, 36, identified as Thomas H., told Bild newspaper Friday he was only temporarily storing the post at his house and friends would help with delivery.

“There were just too much and I couldn’t deliver it all by myself,” he told the newspaper. Police said some of the letters found had been postmarked as early as April. The postal worker faces disciplinary action.

Now, I have taken work home with me before. But how does this even happen? Did the guy just stop doing his job for a few weeks and keep all the stuff at his house? How hard is it to deliver mail? Is it just me, or is something else missing from this story… ?

Vote for Cappy!!

Filed under: Wisconsin Sports — Tara @ 7:39 am

Cappy! I keep saying how cool it would be if Chris Capuano of the Brewers made the all-star team this year, but then I never posted about it. So, here you are.

You all have until 5:00pm this Thursday, July 6th, to place your votes for the “FINAL VOTE.” I don’t know how Capuano didn’t make the team outright, but I guess this will do. Here. To prove my point, let’s compare his stats to those who DID make the all-star team already.

ERA Record IP H R ER BB Ks
Brandon Webb, ARI 2.72 9-3 132.1 130 44 40 20 97
Carlos Zambrano, CHC 3.33 7-3 119 85 47 44 65 118
Bronson Arroyo, CIN 2.79 9-5 125.2 112 43 39 29 95
Brad Penny, LAD 2.94 9-2 101 95 33 33 26 76
Tom Glavine, NYM 3.43 11-2 112.2 112 47 43 34 78
Pedro Martinez, NYM 3.45 7-4 101.2 74 44 39 28 111
Chris Carpenter, STL 2.88 7-4 103 97 37 33 27 90
Jason Schmidt, SF 2.69 6-4 120.1 91 39 36 41 102
Chris Capuano, MIL 3.45 9-4 120 121 49 46 25 106

As you can see, he’s hanging in there with the best of them. Heck, he’s got the same ERA and a better record than Pedro. I’d say that all-star worthy.

So, do your part and VOTE FOR CAPPY! Just click on that link. That will take you straight there. I can’t find anything that says there is a limit to the number of times you can vote, so do often. I know you guys don’t work anyway. :)

GO CAPPY!
