Nice Package

Filed under: Rantings and Ravings — Tara @ 10:33 am

I wish I had a picture of this to post on here, but maybe I’ll add one this afternoon.

I am on a medication for my migraines called Imitrex. It comes in 3 different forms: a pill, a nasal spray and a shot. I am on two of those–the pill and the nasal spray. Basically, if one doesn’t work, I try the other.

The nasal sprays are nice and as compact as a nasal spray can get. Not too hard to fit into my purse. But the pills? you’d think they would come in a nice little pill container or something. But nooooooooooo….

They come in this gigantic box. it’s about 6.5″ x 4″. That’s big. To kind of see how big that is, take a regular sheet of paper and fold it in 3s, like you are going to mail a letter. Now, take one of those sections and just cut 2 inches off the length. That’s the size of the box that these pills come in. PLUS, it’s not just one side, it’s trifolded, just like the letter that you just made. So, I basically have this book that I have to put in my purse just in case I get headaches.

Why don’t I take them out of the packages and just put them in another pill box? Because the manufacturer says that the pills will lose their effectiveness if you take them out of the package before you use them. Usually, I’d say “who cares?” but these pills aren’t cheap. I’m not sure how much other people are paying, but I get 8 pills a month, and that’s $30. Add that on top of the 6 nasal sprays I get every month for another $30, and that’s a decent chunk of change to just go messing around with.

So yeah. This is my ranting and raving towards Glaxo-Kline, who manufactures my pills. I get it. You want to advertise your company/pill. But I am more apt to tell people about it because it works, not because of the bigass box of pills that I have to haul out every time I get a headache. In that respect, when someone asks me what that is, they get a negative response from me because it’s annoying to carry that around.

Anyone else have annoying things they have to carry around with them?

  1. Yeah, the shame of President Bush. It’s with me everywhere I go.
