Closet American Idol Watcher…
So, I must admit. I’ve been watching American Idol these past few weeks. Not because I get into it when they actually start voting for these people. It’s because I like watching people embarassing themselves. In some respects, it’s really sad. Many of these people on the show actually think they are good singers. And that just baffles me. Because they are horrible. Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell are supposedily the “bad guys” and the mean ones, but they are really just being honest when they say “That was absolutely horrible.” It IS horrible.
Does it make me a bad person for laughing at other people’s lack of talent?
Either way, while they are still showing the “tryouts” for the show, I highly recommend you watch it. Where else can you see a 27 year old woman who looks like she is 50 trying out, a skinny dude trying to sing Thriller, an overweight man singing with a voice higher than Mariah Carey’s, and a 23 year old woman doing karate leg kicks when she’s wearing a miniskirt. Good stuff…
I have been watching too. I try to say it’s because my kids watch it, but I enjoy the embarassment factor as well. In fact, if you watched the 2 hour show, the whole family is trying to sing “Fame” like the red head who sounds like she’s having a stroke. Good family fun.

Here’s the thing. I started out the same way as you. You watch to see people make fools of themselves, to see people be put in their place, etc. Then, as they go into the competition portion of the show, you realize that you’re still watching and that you’re addicted.
I fully admit that I find the show entertaining. I just wish it wasn’t on so much.

I LOVE American Idol. I will admit it! Now, you’ve heard it here first– I’m rootin’
for that Katherine McPhee gal. Get this… Last year– the movie ‘Constantine’ was
coming out around the same time that Constantine Maroulis was becoming popular on American Idol.
This year– there’s a movie out called “Nanny McPhee”, and there’s a girl Katherine McPhee
that sounded really talented in her audition… Wierd, eh??? I predict that she will
at least make the top 12 (if not the top 2).
