‘12 Days of Christmas’ A Little Pricy
I heard about this on the radio today… PNC Advisors has charted the cost of the gifts laid out in the song “The 12 Days of Christmas” for the last 21 years. I found this interesting. Here is the chart:
| Item | Cost Per Item | Total Cost | % Increase |
| 1 Partridge in a Pear Tree | $104.99 | $104.99 | 12.9% |
| 2 Turtle Doves | $20.00 | $40.00 | 0.0% |
| 3 French Hens | $15.00 | $45.00 | 3.7% |
| 4 Calling Birds | $99.99 | $399.96 | 1.0% |
| 5 Golden Rings | $65.00 | $325.00 | 27.5% |
| 6 Geese-a-Laying | $50.00 | $300.00 | 42.9% |
| 7 Swans-a-Swimming | $600.00 | $4,200.00 | 20.0% |
| 8 Maids-a-Milking | $5.15 | $41.20 | 0.0% |
| 9 Ladies Dancing | $508.46 | $4576.14 | 4.0% |
| 10 Lords-a-Leaping | $403.91 | $4,039.08 | 0.0% |
| 11 Pipers Piping | $186.65 | $2,053.20 | 0.0% |
| 12 Drummers Drumming | $185.36 | $2,224.30 | 0.0% |
The funny thing about this, is that prices are going up because of Modern-day stuff. Things like the avian flu or higher energy and gold prices cause the prices on this stuff to rise. For instance, the threat of the avian flu has restricted the international shipment of birds, thus preventing the purchase of three French hens from France. Put on top of that the cost of fuel being more this year than last year, and the cost to ship the birds is more overall as well.
You can check out the rest of the article yourself by clicking here. I’m thinking those 9 ladies dancing are charging a BIT too much. Thoughts?
Those maids sure work cheap! They should take up dancing, much more profitable.

Perhaps the question should be, what kind of dancing to those ladies do?

Pretty reasonable for a lap dance, I’d say.
