Top 10 Dumbest Corporate-Sponsored Stadiums

Filed under: Plain Ol' Funny Stuff — Tara @ 6:39 am

I came across this guy’s website today, where he talks about the The Top 10 Dumbest Corporate-Sponsored Stadiums in Sports Today. Pretty funny list, so I’m going to list the names here, then require you to go to his site to get his reasoning behind why they suck so bad–it’ll give you a good laugh.

10. The Save Mart Center (Fresno, California)
9. Value City Arena (Columbus, Ohio)
8. Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium (Troy, Alabama)
7. Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium (Louisville, KY)
6. This spot is reserved for any stadium that includes what it does into the stadium’s name as well as their name. Such examples are Lincoln Financial Field, Citizens Bank Park, Continental Airlines Arena, American Airlines Arena, Canadian Airlines Saddledome, and many more.
5. The BankAtlantic Center (Miami, FL)
4. The St. Pete’s Times Forum (Tampa, FL)
3. Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex (Kitchener, Ontario)
2. Pizza Hut Park (Frisco, Texas)
1. Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, TX

Now seriously–go read his descriptions–funny stuff…

  2. I have to agree and not agree with this guy! Granted some
stadium/arena/complexes or named stupid but think of all his
airline stadiums if they dropped the bussiness…
Continental Arena, American Arena, Canadian Arena….
these names minus the airlines lack any advertising or
corporate meaning at all because they are much too general
and often use land marks for their name. Most airlines don’t
name themselves after their founders like other corporations.
So granted it sounds stupid on the part of the corporate names
does this guy or anyone else have a better idea? America West
got away with dropping airlines because of the more descriptive name
if Southwest Airlines also had a stadium they would be in the same boat.
