Spiking your co-workers’ coffee is one thing. But spiking it with urine…

Yet that’s the accusation made against Thomas Shaheen, a mechanic in vehicle maintenance at the main post office in Akron, Ohio, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

Prosecutors told the newspaper that co-workers became suspicious about the coffee in their break room and installed a hidden videotape camera to monitor activity around the coffee pot. Sure enough, the camera caught Shaheen in the act, they said.

“Employees did put a video camera in, and that’s how they were able to put a stop to what he was doing,” Chief Akron Prosecutor Douglas Powley said.

“The alleged conduct is just atrocious,” Powley added. “It’s not acceptable behavior.”

He said none of Shaheen’s co-workers was physically harmed or made ill by the tainted coffee.

Shaheen is charged with two misdemeanor counts of adulteration of food or placing harmful objects in food. The Beacon Journal reports that postal officials have declined to discuss the case, as have Shaheen’s co-workers.
