Things I Will and Won’t Miss About Living in Downtown Milwaukee

Filed under: Around Milwaukee — Tara @ 5:43 pm

Within the next month, I will completely be moved out of my apartment on the lower East side of Milwaukee. I’ve been here nearly two years and they have been a great two years with lots of memories. As much fun as it’s been though, I’m ready to move on and move up.

Neill and I thought we’d put together a list of things that we will and won’t miss about living in this apartment of ours.

Things We’ll Miss

  • Being able to walk to just about anything you need
  • Living so close to the lake
  • Walking distance to all of the festivals (ie Jazz in the Park, Summerfest, and any other fest you can imagine)
  • Having the clout of saying “I live in downtown Milwaukee
  • Being in a great central point to Water Street, Brady Street and North Avenue. You figure out the connection
  • Food. Lots and lots of great food.
  • Neill: “Being so damn close to work”
  • Neill never having to fire up the ignition to his car
  • Never fighting traffic in and out of Downtown. I’m always going out when everyone else is coming in.
  • Proximity to where I play softball and volleyball
  • Free WiFi downtown
  • Neill being able to go out after work and just walk home
  • People watching
  • Lakefront Brewery tours and fish frys
  • Bumpers on my kitchen table
  • Pizza Shuttle, Oriental Coast, Zaynas
  • Things We Won’t Miss:

  • Neill and Bonnie having their cars broken into
  • Fighting for parking on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night
  • The lady upstairs playing cello during Packers games
  • 20-30 minute drive to and from work for me
  • No closet space
  • Listening to people outside of my window at 2am complain to their girlfriends about how much their boyfriend sucks and how they should break up with them
  • Shared laundry facilities
  • No kitchen cabinets
  • Many of you have spent time in Casa del Cass St. What are you going to miss and what are you not going to miss?

    5. Tara,

Glad you and Kneel found a site. Make him actually drive that Volvo into work.

On behalf of Kneel, he’ll miss the proximity to The Club. Unfortunately, he’ll now have
to leave early to make the drive home. This will likely mean he will no longer be so hung over at
work THAT HE EXCUSES HIMSELF TO VOMIT ALL OVER THE 8th FLOOR STALL!

      Thanks!
      Big Otis
