Futility … and a firing
After landmark 0-28 finish, Savannah St. cans coachSAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Savannah State coach Ed Daniels was fired Thursday, three days after the Tigers completed an 0-28 season as the second winless NCAA Division I team in the past half-century.
The university announced a restructuring of its athletics program that also will eliminate men’s tennis and women’s bowling. Savannah State will continue to sponsor 15 sports, one more than required to be part of Division I.
I can’t believe these elimiated women’s bowling! I mean, UW-Madison is a major Division 1 school, and they don’t even have bowling as a sport. Well, at least they still have mens bowling to look forward to…
