Fire at Gallun Tannery Building

Gallun Tannery Fire

I came home from a trip to Madison this afternoon and found that the old Gallun Tannery building that is basically across the street from my house was on fire. Turned out being a 4-alarm fire–there had to have been over 20 fire engines here–pretty wild. I didn’t get out there in time to catch the flames before all of the firefighters got there, but I did get some pictures of them breaking into the building to put out the flames. They have been tearing down parts of this building so that they could eventually put condos up there, but I guess the fire will help with the tearing down efforts…

  2. Tara: Thanks for the photos of the Tannery building fire. I take fire photos and video on a regular
basis for my website. I’ve been past that building many times and every time I think it looks like a
fire waiting to happen. My daughter lives in Milwaukee; she’s on the Menomonee Falls Fire Dept.
