Track and Field Trials

Since last Friday, our best, non-druggie track and field athletes have been competiting to see who gets to go to the Olympics in Greece in a few weeks. Well, Jenny Bangle who sits next to me here at work happens to know a guy that is competiting to get into the Mens 400 meter run. So, have to give a shout out to the guy because he is in the FINALS. He’s seeded 5th, and 3 people advance, so let’s cheer for the hometown boy–especially because he’s got a cool name:

  1. theres actually a lot of non druggie runners in the trials right now, but nobody tends to notice anything over the 1500. ive slammed a beer with abdi at the drake relays before, and hes going to athens in the 10,000 (took 2nd in the trials). i also had a beer with paul mcmullen who is competing in the 1500 that starts thursday. this dude clearly isnt on roids. my friend john knows a coulple other guys in the trials too, none of which are on roids.

  2. It was just a vague comment–I’m sure there are a lot of non druggie runners in the trial right now.

  3. He’ll probably make it to the Olympics even if he doesn’t finish in the top three. They will take up to 8 for the 4×400 relay, and since he made the final (which is top 8), he has a pretty certain chance of going. He’s an amazingly talented guy, I’ve seen him race a few times.

  8. rock took 6th on thurs night which is pretty damn good for someone that nobody even knew too much about a year or so ago. hes in the relay pool, so hes got a pretty good chance of going for that, or at least as an alternate.

tripp - gabe jennings didnt qualify for the 1500.
